My awesome in-laws put up 190 quarts of tomatoes and gave us six cases! Canning tomatoes in late summer is a tradition and good family time. We only got there for the last 30 quarts, but I’m glad my kids got to participate. A couple more seasons and they will feel confident they can do it when they are grown.
We use a lot of these over the course of a year. Mostly to make Chili-Gili (otherwise known as goulash and also a family tradition), balsamic tomato soup, chicken chili, etc. Some years I’ve run out and used canned tomatoes. I’ve found some that were okay, but they’re never as good as these. My kids devour them, even the ones how don’t like fresh tomatoes (which I can’t comprehend.)
